World Homeless Day is just around the corner! On October 10, 2010, millions of people around the world will be taking action to change the lives of homeless people in their local communities. Hope2Others is putting on an event to address the panhandling side of homelessness and invites you and your friends to get involved by hosting the event where you live.
On 10/10/10, Hope2Others' headquarters in Portland will send out groups of two or more volunteers who will target several freeway exits and "panhandle" in order to raise money for H2O bags. Each group will hold a cardboard sign that reads, "Panhandling for panhandlers. Donate to help." Once someone donates, that driver will be given an H2O flier containing more information about Hope2Others.
"Panhandling for Panhandlers" on World Homeless Day is happening in Portland, but you can do it wherever you are! If you have started H2O in your community, this is a great way to fundraise for your organization and get the word out to others. Find some friends to panhandle with you and either use the money for filling your own H2O bags or send it to the H2O headquarters at 1984 McKillican Street, West Linn, OR 97068.
