Any of us could be the panhandlers shown in these pictures. Some of us may be only a paycheck away from their spot. But for others, it often doesn't even cross our minds. Being a panhandler doesn't make you any less of a person. Try putting yourself in their position for a minute. Picture your face in theirs. What would your sign say if it was you?

The National Coalition for Homeless reports that 200,000 veterans are homeless and 400,000 veterans will experience homelessness during the course of a year.



Here's the question we must ask ourselves:
Why is it that although they risked their lives to save us, we often don't give them a second look?
